"Hot on the heels of esports" growth, PGL plans Asian and American expansion

01 nov. 2017 English Section

Esports, no longer the "unruly" child of the tech and sports entertainment fields, has established itself as a legitimate and profitable industry. Romanian production company PGL is at the forefront of its acceptance and growth.

The Esports industry will soon speed up bast the 1 billion USD in value mark, while at the same time making great strides in terms of gathering mainstream legitimacy. Among these is the imminent inclusion of digital disciplines in the Olympic Games and the numerous forays of official esports federations into partnerships with established federations such as football, basketball and baseball.

One of the leaders of the esports movement into legitimacy and profit is Romanian production company PGL Esports. The Bucharest-based organizers is one the earliest established companies operating in the industry, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.

Since inception, PGL has pursued an organic non leveraged growth strategy. Positioned as the most respected quality focused provider of esports competitions and video content, PGL intends on increasing both the ambition and the rate of delivery for its projects.

The esports organizers is currently growing at a faster pace than the industry average and its profit has increased three-fold compared to 2015. In the past two years PGL's portfolio has grown to include several large Major-tier events such as Krakow, Kiev, Boston and Manila to name a few, all of which became benchmarks in terms of quality of experience.

"PGL's endgame has always been to become the biggest tournament organiser in the esports industry. We will begin our expansion into Asia and USA in 2018 as part of our five-year plan to achieve that goal. We start with a strong financial base and unspotted track record. 2017 marked another successful period in the development of PGL; for the second year in a row we hold the second position in the global ranking of esports companies, in terms of revenue. The new strategy and new additions to the team will help us gear up the partnerships and to add leverage", declared Silviu Stroie, PGL owner and CEO.

Founded in 2002, PGL handles event organization, studio and video production, as well as TV and online streaming for international esports tournaments. Its success rides on the commitment of highlighting the beauty of competitive gaming and bringing innovation to the biggest esports franchises through production features.

Throughout the years PGL has produced hundreds of esports tournaments, reaching millions of fans from around the world. PGL production features have revolutionized the viewing experience for the CS: GO and Dota 2 scenes, while other events have nurtured a competitive environment for the Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm scenes.
