Qatar can boast the largest economic growth in the world in 2010, even as the economic crisis continued to make its effects felt. The Qatari government sought to support the banking system, with direct investments in the domestic banks.

Even though the economy benefited greatly from the rise in the price of oil, as this sector accounts for over 50% of the GDP, approximately 85% of export revenues and 70% of budge revenues, the country"s economic policies are focusing on the development of other sectors.

The proven reserves of 15 billion barrels should ensure that output would remain at the current level for the next 37 years. The country has the world"s third largest proven reserves of natural gas, which have exceeded 25 trillion cubic meters , approximately 14% of the world total.

The hosting of the 2022 World Football Championship is expected to accelerate the infrastructure projects, such as the subway system.

    Relations with Romania

Romania exports to Qatar food products, furniture, clothing, textiles, tires, chemical products, plastics and plastics products, machinery and industrial equipment.

Romania imports small quantities of crude and petrochemical products.
